Please note that everything I tell you here is fictional. Sort of.
Yesterday, as I was finishing up painting parts of the stage background for my club's big event in May, I happened upon this iMac in the next room. Strangely, Photobooth was opened up and set on a distorted filter. At first I was like, WHAT IS GOING ON?!?!!!`1/.1!?
But then we got to know each other a little and I liked it.
Then I really liked it and we made each other laugh like old friends.
But then it slapped me.
No me gusta.
The end.
*snap snap snap clap clap clap*
Beautiful story, isn't it? Oh the wonders of webcam filters. My friends and I were just fooling around with the iMac in the art wing after some hard work. I hope this cracked you up because I sure as heck was laughing really really hard. I was laughing so much my stomach hurt. It was very fun indeed. (Also please excuse the two big pimples on both my cheeks, stress does wonders to your skin. Trust me.)

Spring Playlist
Hello there.
Where have I been? Well, the past week I've been obnoxiously busy with school and applying to summer programs/internships. Too much time spent on my research paper and writing essays for these applications and not enough time for writing up blog posts! Every week seems so short now.
I don't think I'll be able to blog much this week either as those said applications are due on Friday and I shall be busy fine-tuning and putting everything together. Apologies in advance!
Once I'm done with them, I really hope I'll be able to sit down, take some photos, and blog about more easy-going stuff.
Anyway, here are some songs that I've been listening to constantly for the past week -- they wrung in the spring season for me! The weather was beautiful the whole week.
Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head - BJ Thomas (classic feel good song, yah?)
Private Eyes (Hall & Oates) - The Bird and the Bee (I loved this band before, but their cover of this was just awesome -- I'm also a Hall & Oates fan)

I did go to see The Hunger Games on Friday with my friend right after school! We went to CVS to buy some snacks and proceeded to power walk toward the theater. I quite enjoyed the movie actually. Though it left out some parts (which is inevitable in book-to-movies), it was very well put-together. Have you given in to the Hunger Games hype? Thoughts?

Picking it up again
Today, I painted for leisure for the first time in years. I've been so swamped with school and art projects that I haven't had much time to draw for myself. It had also been a while since I last picked up my watercolors set. Boy, was I rusty at first. I've kind of converted to acrylic paints in the past few years, and I'm definitely more comfortable with them compared to watercolors. I would have used acrylics if I had some at home (need to go down to the art store soon). It definitely would have helped me create a more realistic/creepier (yes, I want more creepy) look.
WHITE WATERCOLOR PAINT IS JUST THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE! It does hardly anything.
Recently I've been juxtaposing various animal heads on people. Most of the time, I give them crazy scary facial expressions. This time, I decided to try to give it a softer approach. I must say it came out delightfully creepy.
But at the same time, something just seems kind of off to me. I might just go will fix it later, but for now I'm sort of pleased. I was painting for five hours straight. No pee break or snack break or anything. Just painting. And it was very very therapeutic. Will definitely try to do this again next week or maybe tomorrow!

Peep my Heart
Witty title, yes? Yes.
These sunglasses had been on my wishlist for years. They're absolutely adorable, quirky, and fun. I had tried them on in store every time I went and always liked what I saw. It suited my face shape rather nicely. However, I never built up enough courage to buy them. Can you guess what they are?
I'm sure it's obvious now, but I got heart-shaped sunglasses! I love love looove them so much. I'm so ready for the summer. They just scream the beach. I can't wait to grow my hair even longer so I can rock these with a cool braid (been dying to try fishtail).
Excuse the duck face hahaha, I thought these glasses should deserve a silly picture.
My portion of the city had a massive blackout last night. It looked like a zombie apocalypse outside. My parents weren't home yet, so I packed my backpack with my schoolwork and laptop, a bottle of water, and two bananas and went out to look for some place (namely Starbucks or Panera) to do my homework. However, midway through, my mom got home and I was called back. It was a rather fun experience -- pretty exciting compared to my boring, mundane everyday life. The blackout went on until the middle of the night, so I didn't get my work done (and namely my ESSAY). Just going to talk to my teacher today. I mean, 25% of the school lives in my area and we were all without any electricity!
Anyway, aside from my blackout-zombie-apocalypse story, Happy Hump Day! :)

Fierce like a Flamenco Dancer
...is what I think I am when I wear this lipstick: NARS's accurately-named lipstick in Flamenco.
As you may have spotted in my last post, I received some Sephora goodies in the mail, and one of them was this lipstick. It's my first ever red lipstick. I have a red lipstain, but I never owned an actual red lipstick. Red lipstick just oozes maturity to you, right? Well at last, I have gone through this rite of passage successfully, and I finally feel a little grown up.
Let's pretend this was the reason I bought it on my birthday a few weeks back (I really was just on the hunt for something NARS).
What I like most about this lipstick is that it's sheer, which makes it extremely versatile. I can wear it lightly as if there's just a stain on my lips or I can build it up to an intense, magnificent red. And when I do build it up, it's seriously gorgeous. Refer to the picture below!
This is definitely a fantastic beginner red lipstick and consequently, a great investment. The texture is buttery smooth, the color is versatile and build-able, and it fades in such a nice way. Basically, I'm in love with this lipstick. It's awesome.
On a side note, sorry for the absence this week. It's been super stressful with all my term finals and I also took the SATs (remember those?) yesterday. It was actually not that bad, or at least that was what I felt during and after the test. I usually need to freak out or something but I stayed surprisingly calm. I really really hope I did okay. *cross my fingers* Also, (if you follow me on Twitter, you'll know but...) I got my top braces off last Saturday. Can you see them pearly whites in my lip swatch?
Back to regular posting this week hopefully! Have a great week ahead!
Matches the book, huh? Writing my research paper on Roald Dahl.

Left is one swipe and the right is a couple layers. See how natural AND fierce this lipstick can be? This particular shade of red also brightens up my face so much. It instantly gives my face a much-needed lift.

Five Things
Introducing a new series called...Five Things! I always enjoyed her Five Things posts, so borrowing from Emily (of cupcakesandcashmere -- a brilliant lifestyle/fashion blog), from time to time instead of a "Monthly Favorites" post, I will be posting these showing 5 things that are currently floating my boat, whether they be about food, makeup, fashion, or life in general. That way they will be more sporadic/spontaneous and less limiting. They're quick, but so fun to read/look at. It's kind of like you're looking into my life from many fun, different angles (not in a creepy way).
So here they are in all of their glory...5 things.

{Spring 2012 J. Crew Catalog -- one of my favorite looks despite not being a fan of pink.}
{Pure happiness in a tea box, need I say more?}
{It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Nyan-cat! -- adorbz t-shirt I got for my birthday.}
{Sephora packages...no further explanation needed, right?}
